Title: How To Make Latkes
Prompt: Latkes
Fandom: original
Characters: Bernd, Minky (Mishka)
Word count: 208
Rating: G
Summary: Bernd asks Minky how to make a traditional Hanukah dish…
Genre: slice of life
Author’s notes: Thanks go out to my beta, Kat, for pinking this for me. Please note Minky belongs to her.
“Hey, Minky,” Bernd said as he came over to sit next to her.
She looked up from the book, she was reading, and over at him. “What?”
“How do you make latkes?”
Mishka frowned. “You go to the store, look in the frozen food section for a bag, buy it, bring it home, and put some in a pan and fry them. Why?” Please tell me, you’re not really planning a Hanukah party…
“Yeah? You don’t make them from scratch or anything?”
“Nope. Only your brother Didi makes things from scratch.” Mishka smiled.
Bernd laughed. “He does, doesn’t he? Anyways, that’s it?”
“Yup. Have fun!”
“Okay.” Bernd headed back to the kitchen. From what Mishka said, they sounded pretty easy and a lot less hassle than the recipes he had found online. Heading to the mudroom, he put on his coat and grabbed his keys for a trip to the store. When Hanukah finally did arrive, he wanted to be ready for the party he was planning. Grinning as he drove to the store, Bernd figured he could always talk his brother into making them, if he could not find what he was looking for. He wanted Minky’s first Hanukah with the family to be a special one.
