Author’s notes 2: “Thank God It’s Christmas” was written by Roger Taylor and Brian May and recorded by Queen. “I Farted on Santa's Lap (Now Christmas is Gonna Stink for Me)” was written by Anthony Beltrami and Gina Beltrami, and was recorded by The Little Stinkers.
Bernd sat at his computer, surfing the ’net. He had just finished his holiday shopping and was bouncing from site to site, looking for something to do while he waited to hear back from his client about the new site he was building for him. He checked his email for the fifty-millionth time that morning and was surprised to see Mishka had gotten back to him. He hoped she liked the songs he sent her.
Bernd eagerly clicked on the email and read it. “I knew she’d like that!” he said to himself, completely disregarding the fact that she said she could not listen to any of them at work. That she was willing to sit with him and listen to them when she got home, was the same as loving the music according to “Bernd logic.”
Bernd clicked on the link. It sent him to a Queen video on YouTube. It wasn’t the best quality sound-wise and it featured a fan-made collage of pictures, but it was a Queen song that Bernd had not heard before. Not only that, it was a new Christmas song. He grinned from ear to ear as he listened to it. He did a quick search of YouTube and found the official video for it. The sound quality was perfect and a few clicks later, he had converted it into an mp3. He tossed it into his Christmas music folder, got out his iPod and synced things up, adding the song to his holiday playlist.
He clicked on the tab for his email and replied back:
Hey Minky!!
I LOVE the new songs you sent me!! I had no idea Queen did a Christmas song!! Now I have a new one to add to my folder!! Thanks!! And the one about farting on Santa’s lap is AWESOME!!

Bernd hit send, before closing his email. He clicked on his new mp3 and listened to it over and over again. “Thank God it’s Christmas… Yeah, yeah, yeah, yes it’s Christmas…” he sang along with the late Freddie Mercury. “Thank God it’s Christmas… For one day yeah – Christmas…” Bernd closed his eyes, and holding a pretend mic, he said along with Freddie, “A very merry Christmas to you all.” He clicked on the link for “I Farted on Santa’s Lap” and listened to it several times. Chuckling when it started again, he sang along with the little kids. “I farted on Santa's lap, now Christmas is gonna stink for me, I farted on Santa's lap, now I'll get a…” Bernd made a fart sound. “Under my Christmas Tree…” he sang.
